Meaning of the Emblem
The emblem of Imsil dynamically expresses the Taegeuk pattern and lofty mountains to emphasize the image of the province with culture and tradition, cherishing etiquette, righteousness, and the cleanliness of the region with beautiful mountains, fields and water. The emblem also expresses the undaunted attitude and bright dreams of citizens to make Imsil a prosperous region through the powerful advancement and astonishing development in the new millenium, having infinite potential with the development and strong wills of citizens.
The Taegeuk pattern symbolizes the unity and harmony of the citizens, embodying the fields and water. The red color expresses fertility, generating fruits and enveloping the enthusiasm of Imsil citizens, as well as reminding people of red peppers, the specialty of Imsil-gun. The white color expresses the clean water of Okjeongho Lake metaphorically, as well as symbolizing the tremendous generosity and naivety of the citizens living in harmony with nature, cherishing the eternal history and keeping tradition of Imsil.
The lofty mountain means that the citizens of Imsil shall lead the future through their progressive spirit and bright advancement with the vital force of the Noryeong Mountain Range as the central district on the Korean Peninsula. The green color expresses the infinite development of Imsil-gun and the young and vibrant Imsil citizens. Furthermore, the Taegeuk pattern and the lofty mountain express the shape of the Korean consonants ‘ㅇ’ and the ‘ㅅ’, the initials of Im-Sil in Korean, respectively enabling everyone to easily recognize Imsil.
